It’s hard to fathom that it’s 9 years since I first designed these for my exceedingly glamorous sister. And I’m ashamed to say I haven’t been back to visit them since. Until now.

So now that I’m reworking some of my older patterns along side the new stuff, I decided these pretty things were worth a review. Not least because since then I have moved to the coast and knitting on a chilly beach is actually a thing, even if I’m alone in that…
My recent invitation from a friend to join a group of slow stitchers locally has yielded more rewards than I could possibly have envisaged. There isn’t one of us without a surprising life story to share, and our evenings are sometimes deep and incredibly validating, and sometimes full of enough hilarity to be life-affirming right to the bone. The round-about point of which is that it is run by the fabulous Laura of Folk Yarn Studio, who just happens to dye and sell her own yarn. So, feeling autumnal, I picked out this stunning russety red, pink in some lights, deep russet in others and I am in love with the results.
I have also tweaked and updated the pattern to provide now for 2 sizes to cover most wrists / hands. And PLEASE don’t be put off by the lace – it may look complicated, but it’s actually a very simple knit and a project you can achieve on a slow weekend! 🙂
