{"id":723,"date":"2015-12-06T12:22:39","date_gmt":"2015-12-06T12:22:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aliceinknittingland.wordpress.com\/?p=723"},"modified":"2015-12-06T12:22:39","modified_gmt":"2015-12-06T12:22:39","slug":"a-fairisle-frenzy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aliceinknittingland.co.uk\/?p=723","title":{"rendered":"A Fairisle Frenzy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Can&#8217;t stay away from it.<\/p>\n<p>So, top down, in the round, circular yoke experiment #1<\/p>\n<p>I am, suffice to say, chuffed to bits.<\/p>\n<p>Knitted on 4mm circular needles, except for the last half of the bottom ribbing where I switched to 3.5mm for a snugger fit. In Drops Nepal for the body and Karisma for the sleeves, and using some of the beautiful stash of Finnish Riihivilla hand-dyed wool given to me last Christmas by my rather clever husband.<\/p>\n<p>Here it is, in picture story form:<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-732\" src=\"https:\/\/aliceinknittingland.files.wordpress.com\/2015\/12\/finnish-wool.jpg\" alt=\"finnish-wool\" width=\"900\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is the absolutely delicious Finnish wool I used for the motifs.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-742\" src=\"https:\/\/aliceinknittingland.files.wordpress.com\/2015\/12\/swatch.jpg\" alt=\"swatch.jpg\" width=\"1196\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is the swatch I knitted to ascertain whether the Drops would provide the right match with the Riihivilla.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-737\" src=\"https:\/\/aliceinknittingland.files.wordpress.com\/2015\/12\/fairisle1.jpg\" alt=\"fairisle1\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And thus it began.<\/p>\n<p>Confession: I didn&#8217;t really leave enough of a margin before starting the first motif &#8211; the little owls. So, when it came to finishing off, I had to find a way to deal with the neck. In the end, I folded it back on itself and sewed the top down, creating a funnel neck, rather than the little roll I had originally intended.
